About the event
You're invited to Grand Prairie Friends' fall membership meeting!
We treasure our prairies for their beautiful scenery, remarkable flora and fauna, and high conservation value. Now, we will hear from speaker Kirsten Barker about the music compositions that the prairie has inspired.
Our prairies are important landscapes culturally as well as ecologically. Their past, present, and future are the topic of music across genres (folk, pop, and classical, among others), some of which incorporates sounds from the prairie itself. This talk will provide a brief overview and specific examples of music from, in, and about Midwestern prairies and music's relevance to our conservation efforts.
Grand Prairie Friends volunteers and staff will share updates about the organization.
A no-cost event. Refreshments provided.
