About the event
Join us for seed collection and brush removal at Shortline Railroad Prairie.
This site is a tiny remnant of the rich heritage of the tallgrass prairie that once covered east-central Illinois. The areas bordering this old railroad bed were never plowed, and support a variety of native prairie plants.
Directions:
From Rantoul, head east on US 136 past Gifford. South on 2400E for .5 mi. Prairie on left, park by gate.
Carpool:
We will meet at Farm and Fleet in Urbana (southeast corner of the lot) at 8:25am.
What to Bring:
Long sleeves and pants, sturdy shoes, gloves, and hat. If you have sturdy loppers for brush, they are welcome. We will have tools.
Snacks and drinks provided.
