About the event
Join us to collect seeds in one of our treasured remnant prairies, a favorite activity for many of our volunteers. Â Our natural areas staff will demonstrate how we clip and catch the seed heads and teach you to identify the right species of plant. Â This activity will allow volunteers to space themselves and work safely. Â We will also unveil a new interpretive sign installed on the wooden overlook. Â The donor of this sign will be on hand as well. Â
Directions: In Loda, turn left on Jefferson St (210N) then right on Mulberry St. Â Follow signs to Pine Ridge Cemetery. Park on road south of the cemetery and walk the mowed path NNE to preserve. Â The address is Pine Ridge Cemetery, Loda, IL 60948. Â Â
What to Bring: Appropriate clothing – long pants and shirt, work shoes, gloves, and bug spray.  Tools will be available and cleaned but feel free to bring your personal tools (hand clippers).  Â
Covid 19 Adaptations: social distancing, no organized carpooling, and volunteers bring their own drinks/snacks. Â
Cancellations: Â cancellations will be announced on Facebook and through email to those who RSVP. Â
