Help with brush management, pruning, and invasive species plant management, and get a RARE guided hike at the ONLY East- Central IL sand pond and wet sand prairie!
Join us at Grand Prairie Friend's Bonnie's Prairie Nature Preserve in Watseka, IL (2073 E 2200 North Rd.
Watseka, IL). Volunteers will enjoy an educational day with a guided hike while participating in brush management, pruning, and invasive species plant management. This is a rare opportunity to have a guided visit at the only sand pond and wet sand prairie protected as a nature preserve in this portion of Illinois! Bring water and wear clothing and shoes for outdoor weather. Tools, training, fun, and snacks will be provided.
Directions: I-57 north from Champaign then Hwy 24 east to Watseka. North on US 1 one mile then ½ east on 2200N. Small dirt parking lot on the right, near the tracks.
What to Bring: Appropriate clothing – cold weather clothing, sturdy shoes, and gloves. Tools and instructions will be provided.
No experience is required.
Every workday concludes with drinks, snacks, and friends!
