Zoom: Bats Back From Migration

About the event

Join Grand Prairie Friends staff as we welcome the bats back from migration with an exciting online training. GPF’s bat monitoring program is now in its seventh year. Volunteers observe entries and exits of bats, including the endangered Indiana bat maternal colony. By volunteering approximately one evening per month throughout the summer, volunteers have helped verify more than 1,000 bats emerging on some evenings. This data is critical to the restoration efforts to help protect the species.

Staff & experienced volunteers will lead us through a refresher of monitoring procedures and share updates to the program. This yearly training is mandatory for all who wish to participate in bat monitoring in 2026. Those unable to attend the online training may register for a recorded training. Please email taylor@grandprairiefriends.org for more information.
