About the event

This first day of bat monitoring in 2024 is the perfect opportunity for new bat monitoring volunteers to learn the ins and outs. Already an experienced bat monitor? Come on out and help with both counting bats and guiding our new folks!

Directions:

Warbler Ridge Bottoms

1. Head south on IL 130 from Charleston and turn right onto Bypass Rd. Watch for the brown hiker  sign at Bypass Rd. The entrance to Bypass Rd is opposite the entrance to Lake Charleston.

2. Cross the stone bridge and take the first right onto Co Rd. 550N.

3. 550N takes a sharp left in a half mile. At the 550N left turn, continue south to the mid-trail parking lot (before the white gate) to reach  the South Pod. From the parking lot, head south on the road through the gate and turn left  when possible to see the pod. The walk is 5 minutes on uneven terrain.
